May Reading:

Love and Rage: The Path of Liberation Through Anger

by Lama Rod Owens

May 28, 2026 5:30-6:30 pm

Octagon House

3180 E Paris Ave SE, Kentwood, MI 49512

This is a six-month, community-centered series rooted in the belief that reading can be a powerful act of resistance.

Each month, we’ll engage with a thoughtfully chosen book that challenges dominant narratives, deepens critical awareness, and invites us into more intentional ways of living, relating, and resisting. Together, we’ll explore themes of power, oppression, healing, and collective liberation in ways that support real-world integration and action.

This space is facilitated by three trauma-informed clinicians who are committed to creating a grounded, supportive, and reflective environment. Our approach honors the nervous system, welcomes complexity, and makes space for both personal and collective processing. You only need a willingness to show up, stay curious, and to engage at your own pace.

Our goals are to:

  • Build meaningful community in a time of isolation and disconnection

  • Expand our collective capacity to engage with difficult truths

  • Support sustainable, values-aligned action in the world

  • Reclaim reading as a tool for resistance, reflection, and transformation

Whether you’re new to this kind of space or have been doing this work for years, you are welcome to come and read with us.
